Fannie Belle Meacham Carter, 92, of 133 Carter Dr., Ellerbe, died Thursday, January 04, 2007 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mrs. Carter was born May 15, 1914 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Richmond Jenkins and Willa Cagle Meacham. She was a homemaker, a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ellerbe where she was active in the WIC Circle#1 and a member of the choir. One of her greatest joys as a Sunday school teacher was teaching the pre school children. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold McAuley Carter and a son Reid Carter. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Janie Carter of Rockingham, Ted and Vera Carter of Ellerbe, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lea and Bob Robinson of Charlotte, grandchildren, Karen Hairfield, Kim Latta, Mitchell Carter, Carter Robinson, Jeremy Carter, Jason Carter and great grandchildren, Kellie Carr, Adam Latta, Noah Latta and Bailey Dawkins. Also surviving are her brother Ralph Meacham of Ellerbe and her sister Lizzie Lee of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Ellerbe with Rev. James Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:30 – 8:30 PM Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on Carter Dr. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, PO box 116, Ellerbe, NC 28338.
