Tommie Harrelson

Tommie Harrelson , 81, of 511 Anson Ave. Rockingham died Monday, January 1, 2007 at Firsthealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mr. Harrelson was born March 25, 1925 in Dillon County SC, a son of the late Jesse and Melissa Knight Harrelson. Mr. Harrelson served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a Purple Heart recipient having been wounded on Iwo Jima. He was a member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church , the Dennis Dawkins Sunday School Class, a member of Rockingham Masonic Lodge 495 AF &AM and the Oasis Temple of the Shrine. He had been employed with Carolina Paper Mill. Surviving are his wife Ruby Abbott Harrelson of the home, son and daughter in law, Larry and Judy Harrelson of Rockingham, grandsons, Larry Harrelson Jr. of Rockingham, Kenneth Harrelson of Leland, Matthew Harrelson of Southern Pines, Ethan Harrelson of Rockingham, great grandchildren, Tommie and Brittany Harrelson of Leland. Funeral services will be private. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at Larry and Judy’s home, 401 Deweese Ave Rockingham..
