Connie McCracken Martin Little Little formerly of Richmond Road, Rockingham, NC died December 1, 2006 at Britthaven of Hamlet where she had been a Resident since March 2003. She was born December 12, 1911, in Iredell County, one of nine children to the late John Mack and Annie R. Hall McCracken. Connie graduated from West End High School, Class of 1929, as class valedictorian and was a beautician and a homemaker. She was the oldest living member of Roberdell Baptist Church where she actively participated until becoming a Resident of an Assisted Living Facility in February 2000. She was a member of the Miller Bible Class and had been secretary/treasurer for the class, a member of the Task Force on Prayer and was a member of and had served as president of the Sara Mission Group. Connie had been a Sunday School Teacher for Children and Adults and a Choir Member. She was preceded in death by her son, Fred A. Martin, August 2, 2006; her husbands, Fred Martin, February 1935; Sam Little, August 1964; and Curtis Little, September 1984. Also, her sisters Robena Hartsell, Willie Pusser and Estelle Greene and her brothers Marshall McCracken and Robert McCracken. Surviving are her daughter Mary Anne Shaw and husband, Gene of Rockingham, NC; her daughter-in-law Debra Martin of Charlotte, NC; a sister Winnie Dorn of Troy, NC; two brothers Jim McCracken and wife, Wanda of Troy, NC and Louis McCracken and wife, Juanita of Melbourne, FL; three grand children and 11 great grand children. Also, six step children; Bonnie Baker, Jessie Carpenter, Brenda Turner, Harold Little and Ken Little of Union County and Phyllis Helms of Stanley County; 16 step grand children, 24 step great grand children and 6 step great great grand children. And a number of nieces and nephews. There will be a Grave Side service at 2PM Sunday at Bear Branch Cemetery, Rockingham, NC with Rev. Jerry Turner. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of Roberdell Baptist Church following the service from 3 until 4PM. Memorials may be made to Roberdell Baptist Church, 1118 Richmond Road, Rockingham, NC or the Bear Branch Cemetery Fund, 208 Bear Branch Road, Rockingham, NC.
