James L. Taylor

On November 15th, the angels came and took James Lloyd Taylor to his new home in heaven. He was born December 23, 1919 in Phythamathe, GA, a son of the late James Albert Taylor and Marthina Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rockingham, where he was a past deacon. He was retired from the Roadway shop with CSX Railway. He was a member and past president of the Rockingham Lions Club. For many years, Mr. Taylor loved to play Santa Claus and looked forward to visiting children in various places. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, November 17th at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dwight Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Northam cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Tiny Mary Morse Taylor of the home; daughters, Sherry Taylor Nichols and husband Travis of Rockingham, Phyllis Gainey Ford and husband James of Rockingham, Hilda Gainey French and husband Warren of Rockingham; and sons, Dewey Gainey and wife Carole Ann of Charlotte and Eugene Gainey and wife Wanda of Charlotte; a sister, Catherine Young of Florence, SC; and a brother, Thomas Taylor of Florida; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Taylor. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on 134 Tiny Lane, Rockingham. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 904 Fayetteville Rd., Rockingham, NC 28379, Hospice of Richmond County, PO Box 2136, Rockingham, NC 28380, or to the Rockingham Lions Club.
