Lillian M. McInnis Mrs. Lillian McIntrye McInnis of Ellerbe, daughter of the late William Henry and Shelby Blake McIntyre, died October 15 at Palmer Hinson Care Center after an extended illness. Mrs. McInnis was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1995 and her son Carl Franklin McInnis, Jr. in 1944. Lillian and Carl were married 54 years prior to his death. Mrs. McInnis was born December 9, 1918. Surviving Mrs. McInnis are her daughter Dr. Nancy McInnis Vandett of Ellerbe, her son Bradley McInnis and wife Doris of Rockingham, her two grandchildren Carl Jared Vandett and wife Marissa of Little Rock, and Christie McInnis Grooms and husband Wayne of Rockingham, and her five great-grandchildren: William Ryan Dearing of Forrest City, Arkansas; Reagan Lindsay Vandett, Jacob Riley Vandett, Lillian Reese Vandett of Little Rock; and Ashleigh Kathleen Grooms of Rockingham. Until illness prevented her, Mrs. McInnis was active in the Ellerbe Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for approximately sixty years. During her younger years, she frequently taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a lifelong member of the Women of the Church. With her husband Carl, she maintained the Church’s financial records for many years. Mrs. McInnis was known for her strong work ethic, her love of gardening and cooking, and her love and support of her family. Ellerbe residents often remember her for the beautiful azaleas which bloomed each spring. She worked, along with her husband, at Webb’s Food Store in Ellerbe, for over 15 years. Funeral arrangements are being made with Carter Funeral Home of Ellerbe. Visitation will be held at Carter Funeral Home on October 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Ellerbe Presbyterian Church on October 18 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. James Watson officiating, burial will follow at the Ellerbe Cemetery. Donations honoring Mrs. McInnis and her life may be made to the Ellerbe Presbyterian Church.
