Virginia McIntyre Race

Virginia McIntyre Elderson Race, 74, of 211 Heathcote Rd. Hendersonville, NC formerly of Ellerbe, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. Mrs. Race was born October 6, 1931 in Richmond County a daughter of the Herman and Ina Reynolds McIntyre. She had served in the U S Air Force, a graduate of Ellerbe High School Class of 1949 , was active in the Senior Friendship Newcomers Club and had retired from 3M Corporation as a cost accountant. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Elderson. Surviving are her husband Richard Race of the home, son , Craig Elderson o f La Verne, CA, daughter, Debbie Kessler of Salisbury, a brother, Eugene McIntyre of Ellerbe, a sister, Clara Donahue of Ellerbe and 3 Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Ellerbe First Baptist Church with Rev. James Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Carter Funeral Home of Ellerbe is assisting the Race family.
