Eugene McCaskill Poston

Eugene McCaskill Poston, 77, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at his home. Mr. Poston was born March 2, 1940 in Richmond County, a son of the late Cleveland Poston and Gladys Henry Poston Hinson. He had served in the North Carolina National Guard for over 28 years, worked with Clark Equipment Company and had retired from the Richmond County Jail. He was a longtime member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church, where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Administrative Board and was named Lay Person of the Year. He also loved working with wood. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Sara McDougald Poston of the home; son, Eugene M. Poston, Jr. of the home and grandchildren, Ashley N. Poston, Jason T. Poston and Scotty Tanner. A service to celebrate Eugene’s life will be held at 3 pm Sunday at West Rockingham United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Haber officiating. The family will see friends following the service at the church and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Rockingham United Methodist Church, 217 W.
