C. Clegg Covington

Carlton Clegg Covington went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 26, 2017. Clegg was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Maie Covington, brothers Lindbergh, Alva, Alan, Winfred and sisters, Thelma, Ollie, Lula, Zona and Virginia. Clegg worked for many years in the masonry business. He later retired from Industrial Sheet Metal. During his retirement, he worked part time with Richmond County Waste Management. Clegg enjoyed singing for many years with the East Rockingham Men’s Group. He also was a Lifelong Member of First Baptist Church of Ellerbe and was actively involved with the Extension Department. He is survived by his wife Lillian Covington, step-children, Charlie Webb, Martha Webb, Ruth Keeney, granddaughter Hannah Webb and sister Lila Ussery. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 2 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe. Interment will follow in Chappell cemetery. Visitation will be held before the service at 12:45 to 1:45. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ellerbe First Baptist Church, Extension Department( Homebound Ministries), P.O.
