Josephine Covington Russell

Josephine Covington Russell, 88, of Ellerbe, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Fox Hollow in Pinehurst. Mrs. Russell was born August 31, 1928 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Edward Judson and Mozelle Warner Covington. She was a member of Saron Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and a member of the WMU. She had retired from Gilead Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Russell and sister, Ardele Reynolds. Surviving are her children, Bobby Russell (Linda) of Ellerbe, Rosann Gerald of Ellerbe, Robin Burke (Les) of Pinehurst, Renea Wadsworth of Carthage; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers, Alton Covington of Mt. Gilead, Curtis Covington of Candor, James Covington of Aberdeen and sisters, Shirley Blake of Troy, Virginia Burroughs of Mt. Gilead and Vicki Ochtyun of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday at Saron Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Luck officiating. Interment will be held privately in Norman Cemetery. The family will see friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at 2178 Hwy 220 Ellerbe. Memorials may be made to Saron Baptist Church, P.O.
