Ruby Horne Benoist

Ruby Horne Benoist, 85, of Rockingham, surrounded by her family, went peacefully to her heavenly home on March 13, 2017. Mrs. Benoist was born November 8, 1931, in Chesterfield County, SC, a daughter of the late Bert and Cora Cassidy Horne. She attended Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church and had retired from Clark Equipment Company. She will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and caring woman, who loved the Lord and her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Lee McCaston and brothers, Floyd and Dock Horne. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Rev. Kenneth E. Benoist of the home; children, Ray Benoist (Linda) of Lugoff, SC, Sue B. Shoe (Tommy) of Wilmington, Lynn B. Williams of Fort Mill, SC, and Anita B. Knight (Ricky) of Hamlet; grandchildren, Wendy, Corey, Deanna, Kasi, and Anna; great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Savannah, Luke, Emily, Laci, Austin, and Elias and sisters, Doris White and Peggy Hughes, both of Hamlet. Funeral services will be at 3pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Mike Price officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 – 8 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
