James Preston "Jimmy" Williams

James Preston “Jimmy” Williams, 83, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mr. Williams was born January 27, 1934 in Richmond County, a son of the late James Randolph and Myrtle Shepherd Williams. He had served his country in the US Army and was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1952. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the choir and had retired from the US Post Office. Surviving are his wife Hilde Panz Williams of the home; children, Heidi Crowley of Rockingham, James P. “Jimmy” Williams, Jr. of the home; grandchildren, Jennifer Dumas, Kimberly Williams; great grandchildren, Luke, Gabriella, Isabella; brothers, Johnny Williams of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Robert Williams of McDonough, GA and sisters, Jackie Dawkins of Hamlet, Alma Blake of Norman and Lois Privitte of Ellerbe. A service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be at 3 pm Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor John Pfisterer officiating. Interment will be held privately. The family will greet friends from 2 to 3 pm Sunday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 311 Marlboro Street, Hamlet, NC 28345.
