Thomas Lee Idol

Thomas Lee Idol, 81, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at his home. Mr. Idol was born November 11, 1935 in Richmond County, a son of the late John and Autan Sue Phipps Idol. He had served his country and retired from the US Air Force and also retired from the City of Rockingham, where he was Buildings and Grounds Superintendent. He had also been a referee and umpire in college volleyball and basketball and high school softball and baseball. Surviving are his children, Pamela Kay Idol of Matthews, Glen Lee Idol of Rockingham; grandchildren, Thomas Glen Webb, Brittany Lauren Idol; his children’s mother, Donna Jean Idol; sister, Betty Williamson of Swansboro and brother Johnny L. Idol of Marietta, GA. Funeral services will be held privately.
