Joe Anderson Greene

Joe Anderson Greene, 86, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mr. Greene was born October 13, 1930 in Richmond County, a son of the late Arthur and Ethel Williams Greene. He had served his country in the US Army and was a member of Cordova United Methodist Church. He retired from CSX Railroad and Shepard Auto Parts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Terrell, Alfred, Pate and Barney Greene. Surviving are his wife, Jean Chavis Greene of the home; children, Jody Michelle Greene ( Andy Adams) of Hillsborough, Johnathan Greene (Kimberley) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Emily Adams, Houston Sanford, Kaki Sanford and brother, Arthur Greene, Jr. of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday at Cordova United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Griswold and Rev. Bob Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
