Mr. James Clay Johnson, 80, of 170 Marilyn Ave. Rockingham, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at his home. Mr. Johnson was born July 24, 1925 in Anson County, a son of the late James Raymond and Minnie Odell Burgess Johnson. He had served his country in the US Army attended Living Waters Pentecostal Holiness Church, loved to garden and was known for his large cabbage and collard plants. Mr. Johnson worked for Burlington Industries in Cordova, Ramseur, Denton, Tarboro and Erwin, retiring after 38 years of service. Following his retirement he was associated with Jimmy’s Auto Sales. He was preceded in death by a son James Clay Johnson, Jr.. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary Grace Watts Johnson of the home, daughters, Patsy J. Hartman of Rockingham, Minnie J. Lynch of Ellerbe, Rebecca Nance Boger of Asheboro, and Marsha Dale Presnell of High Point, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is a special family friend Janice Bryant. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday in the Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Rev. J. Bernard Cox and Earl Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
