James "Dugan" Treece

James Everett “Dugan” Treece, 82, of 401 Capel Mill Road Ellerbe, died Sunday, March 12, 2006 at his home. Dugan was born December 31, 1923 in Richmond County a son of the late Albert Lee and Juanita Sue Poole Treece. He served his country during World War II in the US Navy, attended Saron Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sue Treece Platt in 2004. Surviving are his wife, Odessa Brigman Treece of the home, sons, James E. “Jimmy” Treece, Jr. and wife Judy of Rockingham, Michael A. Treece of Ellerbe, daughter, Cathy T. Butler and husband Charles of Ellerbe, grandchildren, Tina Knight, Brandie Price, Mark Davis, Ashley Welch, Donna Longworth, Billie Gail Adiemy, Jennifer Knight, and Holly Voorhees, great grandchildren, Maggie and Amanda Mabe, Austin and Olivia Price, Aaron and Christopher Voorhees. Also surviving are brothers, Gordon, Dwight and Terrill Treece all of Florida, David Treece of Tennessee, and sisters Polly Greene and Donna Kay Miller, both of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapel with Rev. Richard Stanford officiating. Burial will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will see friends from 6:30 – 8:30 PM Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on Capel Mill Road.
