Gladys Mae Cox

Mrs. Gladys Mae Lail Hampton Cox, 91, of 249 Dockery Road, Rockingham, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Rockingham Manor . Mrs. Cox was born November 29, 1914 in Hopkins County KY, a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Elizabeth Eden Lail. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ellerbe,where she had been a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the WMU. She was a home maker and was preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Hampton and David “Alec” Cox. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday at Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapel with the Rev. Bill Monroe officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
