HEADING NAME: Clara Smith Mrs. Frances Clara Melton Smith, 81 of 1010 Richmond Rd. Rockingham died Friday, February 24, 2006 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. She was born March 5, 1924 in Richmond County a daughter of the late James and Lillie Sanford Melton. She was retired from J.C. Penny’s as a sales associate. She was a member of Roberdell United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Sidney E. Smith one brother Willard Melton and one sister Margaret Currie. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 27, 2006 at 4:00pm Roberdell United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Schronce and Rev. Ira Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park. She is survived by one daughter Pamela Carter of Carthage, one brother Boyd Melton, three sisters Helen Shaw, Hallie Walls, and Louise Sanford all of Rockingham; and one grandchild. The family will receive friends Sunday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham from 5:00-7:00 pm. And at other times at the home.
