Dorothy Rainwater Covington

Mrs. Dorothy Rainwater Covington, 79, of 1289 NC Hwy 177 S. Rockingham, died Sunday, February 19, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Covington was born May 3, 1926 in Marlboro County, SC, a daughter of the late Vander and Cardella Sweatt Rainwater. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband Charles Covington in 1997. Surviving are her sons, Woodell Covington of Rockingham, Odell Covington of Hamlet, Tommy Covington of Oklahoma, Alvin Covington of the home, daughters, Dorothy Todd and Betty Goodson both of Rockingham, brothers, Burnie Rainwater of Cheraw, SC, William Rainwater and James Rainwater, both of Rockingham, sisters Latha Hamilton and Ellen Lampley both of Rockingham, 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Rev. Royce Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the Haywood Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:30 – 8:30 PM Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the Goodson home, 1021 Battley Dairy Rd.
